Hilary Duff is an Author Now?

What I'm Listening To: Think-Aretha Franklin

So I'm still swamped with midterms, but I just had to blog about this. I read on Publisher's Weekly that Hilary Duff just signed a book deal for a Young Adult series with Simon and Schuster for a book called Elixir. This was also confirmed by Miss Duff, herself. I've posted the Amazon description of the book below:

Product Description
Ever since she was small, Clea Rayner has been haunted by both a gift and curse. When she takes photos, extra pictures appear on the camera - photos she hasn’t taken. These photos are a calling; she must find and go to their location, where she always discovers a tragedy that only she can stop. She has seen some harrowing things, and it’s made her wary of opening her heart to anyone. Yet what haunts Clea most is not the dire situations she sees, but the mystery of her father, who disappeared two years ago and is now presumed dead. She has only one clue about what happened to him: a photograph that arrived after his disappearance. No matter how much she studies the picture, Clea can’t tell where it is, but she carries it with her everywhere, just waiting for the revelation that will help her. That revelation comes on a trip to Colombia, where she meets Race; a strikingly handsome, magnetic and enigmatic stranger and despite Clea’s reticence to open her heart, she feels an instant connection to Race that she can’t explain. But whatever has brought them together is also threatening to tear them apart and as the mystery of her father’s disappearance unravels, Clea discover that she has powers that are bigger than anything she could have anticipated…

I liked some of her music, not all, but some. I didn't watch the Lizzy Maguire Show, but some of the episodes were funny. I heard that she was developing a clothing line and perfume line, which I haven't seen, but wish her well on. I'm sure some of you know that she's also getting engaged to her hockey boyfriend. I watched A Cinderella Story and thought it was okay, didn't blow my mind. Her other movies, didn't look appealing to me. But now she wants to step into the writing world? This may possibly be a classic example of someone spreading themselves too thin and wanting to try everything for the fun of it, which she can because she's a celebrity and they like to get into everything. So, for me, the jury is still out on whether she can write or not. I want to know if you guys think she landed this book deal because she has talent or because she's Hilary Duff. And let me just say that personally, this description looks like it was written by an amateur and does not entice me to read the book at all. But if any of you happen to read it, let me know whether you hate it or like it.

All right, now that this is out of my system, I can officially go back to studying for my midterm tomorrow.
