What I'm Listening To: I'm Not Dead-Pink
I usually don't comment about relationships or whatever because I think so many people do that, but today something caught my attention. So today my friend and I were talking about the phenomenon going on at our campus. It involves men dating freshmen girls. This is just something random that we noticed. Apparently there is a lack of testosterone in Wisconsin and men expect women to go up to them. Strike there. Another thing is that older boys are really into freshman girls (and for only one reason...) The reason I say this is because 1) they are not cute 2) they are not smart 3) they are not qualified. The majority of them at least. The reason that I say this, is because it's true. You have to be an extra special freshman or I think guys should be able to find someone their own age if they weren't acting like adolescent, hormonal teenagers. For instance, as a freshman, I was Miss Black and Gold Wisconsin 2009, I was the Editor-in-chief of a magazine, I was an honors student, I made Deans List, I was a PEOPLE scholar and a part of the Academic Advancement Program, I had just finished writing a book, and I was successful and part of two groups. That was why I dated a 5th year senior because 1) I was mature enough 2) I was qualified enough 3) and yes I was successful and beautiful enough. I'm not saying this to brag, Im saying it because it's true and seems slightly ridiculous to me. When sex is the norm, people look past the qualifications to settle for something cheap. I saw a Facebook status that said it best
"Good girls are at the top of the apple tree. Some boys are afraid of falling so they pick the apples from the lower branches and are unsatisfied. But only the brave boys are strong enough to go the distance to the top and be fulfilled."
I'm just sayiing, if you're dating a freshman, please have some sense and do it for another reason besides the fact that she's turning tricks in your bed every night. Make sure she's cute at least, make sure she's doing her own thing, and make sure she's QUALIFIED and can compliment you. End of rant ;)
